The latest Scanlon Institute Report on Social Cohesion in Australia shows that we continue to be a relatively cohesive society. We continue to support the notion of Multiculturalism and to recognize the economic, social and cultural benefits of Immigration. This is despite the efforts of right-wing conservative political, religious and media groups to generate division.
I am always interested in people's religious views and the wider ideas that they generate. However, I don't care what religion you arrive at. Whether you identify with Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, Agnosticism or Atheism, some combination of these or whether you identify with none of the above, is not an issue for me so long as you have arrived at your views in a considered way and are content with where you are up to. What matters. I think, is that the worldview that you have arrived at through your religious thinking is open, inclusive, hopeful and loving, this is the way to a better society and a better world which we sorely need. This, as far as I am able to tell, is the way of good religion and for me, is the way of Jesus of Nazareth.
Peace, justice and blessings to all.
Ken, I think you have nailed it as far as cosmological and religious views are concerned - they need to be inclusive and open to be part of the better society that we all seek.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim. I appreciate this feedback - much appreciated. Blessings.
